Abstract

ABSTRACT Tannia Desy 2021, An Analysis of Pre-service Teachers’ Strategies in Creating a Positive Online Classroom Environment. Thesis. English Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Universitas Jambi. The first supervisor: Prof. Amirul Mukminin, S.Pd., M.Sc. Ed., Ph.D. The second supervisor: Duti Volya, S.Pd., M.Pd. Keywords: Pre-service teacher, Strategies, Positive Classroom Online environment. The online learning process is a learning activity carried out through an internet network without face to face. In the pandemic situation now, so many activities were disrupted. Therefore online learning is an alternative way for teachers to continue the teaching and learning process. This research method is qualitative descriptive method by using semi unstructured interview to collect the research data. There are five participants in this research. Based on the result of study, there are some strategies that used by pre-service teacher to create a positive online classroom environment. There are, planning and preparation, ice breaking, applying checking understanding student, improving students activeness, and giving feedback. The effectiveness of the strategies is making the online classroom environment more positive, the student being active, and an increase before and after implementation the strategy. To retain the strategy pre-service teacher used continuously the strategy and repeating the application of the strategy.
