Abstract

ABSTRAK The purpose of this study is to describe and know whether or not there is influence of ability to read anecdotal text on the ability to write anecdotal text of students X MIPA 4 SMAN 11 Jambi City Academic Year 2017/2018. The ability to read anecdotal texts not only affects the reader's soul but also increases the critical attitude to the problems that occur in society. The method used in this research is quantitative descriptive method. Data is taken through reading and performance test tests in writing anecdotal text. The ability to read anecdotal text and the ability to write anecdotal text is processed by calculating the Sperman Rank correlation. The result of the analysis shows that there is a positive and significant correlation between the ability to read anecdotal text and the ability to write anecdotal text that is equal to ρ = 0,097> 0,05 and the correlation coefficient value is 0,289 means that the correlation level is low and unidirectional (the higher the variable value of writing ability anecdotal text then the higher the variable value of the ability to write anecdotal text and vice versa). The conclusion obtained from the results of the above research that there is no positive relationship and significant influence between the ability to read anecdotal text on the ability to write anecdotal text students so it is advisable to readers including other researchers to conduct further research on writing anecdotal text guided by the teacher directly guided or researcher concerned and look for the influence of other variables on the ability to write anecdotal text. Keywords: Reading ability, writing ability, anecdotal text.
