Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: The development of global business, global competition, and global companies makes rivalry in the business world increasingly fierce, so companies must improve and develop the quality of work life of their employees. Therefore, this study aims to examine 9 components of the quality of work life of employees at the Tempe H. Slamet factory in order to be able to compete with other factories. Methods: The type of research used is descriptive qualitative with in-depth interview. data collection methods and data analysis in the form of content analysis. The subjects of this study amounted to 6 informants with a total of 5 workers and 1 key informant. Results: The results of the research at the H. Slamet tempe factory showed that employee involvement went well because employees were always involved in every activity and every decision-making process at work, the compensation given by the company to employees was also in accordance with the work done. related to a sense of security, employees do not feel safe and comfortable enough in carrying out activities at the factory every day due to several factors such as low levels of occupational safety and health and the presence of several risk factors for physical hazards such as being exposed to fire and psychological hazards such as being anxious about being hit by a building. However, employees feel quite proud of the factory where they work because of the positive image of the factory in the eyes of the public. The factory also provides adequate facilities to employees and always involves employees in the process of solving problems in the factory area with relaxed and flexible communication without any significant obstacles. Furthermore, there are no stages of career development in this factory except for the division of job descriptions for each employee. Conclusion: based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that 6 of the 9 components of the quality of work life in the tempe H. Slamet factory are in a good category, namely employee involvement, balanced compensation, pride in the institution, available facilities, problem solving and communication. While the other 3 in the form of employee security, occupational safety and health and career development need to be further improved.
