ABSTRACT Darma, R. S. (2021). “The Analysis of Translation Errors on Educational Crash Course Media Literacy of YouTube: Lexical, Syntactical and Semantic Errors.” A thesis. Master Program of English Education. Universitas Jambi. First Advisor Prof. Amirul Mukminin, S.Pd., M.Sc.Ed., Ph.D and Second Advisor Drs. Marzul Hidayat, M.A., Ph.D. Keyword: Machine Translation, Translation Errors Communicating between two people around the world has been common since the rise of globalization and the advancement of technology of communication. Because of that, the machine translation has been popular to be used as a way to translate the oral or written languages product all over the world. One of the famous machine translations are Google Translate. However, there are some complaints about the usage of machine translation. The purposes of the research are to identify the types of errors in Machine Translation output and to pick the most common errors resulted from translation machine. The types of translation errors are categorized as such: Lexical, Syntactical and Semantic Errors. This study employed a quantitative descriptive method. The data of the research were collected from 3 Crash Course Literacy Media videos. This study found that the translation product still resulted in some errors, and all of the types of errors founded in translation. The lexical errors caused by wrong word choices, untranslated words, translating too literally, and wrong pronoun usage. The syntactical errors caused by the different structure between Indonesian and English, time adverb errors and tense errors. The semantic errors caused by the inability of Google Translate to understand the idioms, hence they translate it too literally.
