Abstract
This research aimed to find out the student’s preferences in using learning sources in learning english in university. The researcher chose this study to find out what learning material that students like to use, e-books or print books. The data were collected on October 2021 from the English Students from one of state universities in Jambi. This research employed qualitative methods by using interviews to collect data. The interview was asked to 10 students with 15 questions. The findings of this research showed that the kinds of material used in learning English, especially in reading courses, were e-books and printed books. The result of data analysis releaved that there were a students preferences in using learning sources is printed books that can be mainly categorized in many reasons, students prefer printed books because easy to use, doesn’t make eye tired, printed books can be mark and highlight, easy to understanding on printed books, printed books easy to get like borrowing from the lecturer or library, and also for the students with minus eyes it will be uncomfortable if reading continuosly on electronics. Several efforts carried out are also identified and some suggestions are also highlighted at the end of the paper
