Abstract

Potatoes are one of the horticulture plants that have a favorable prospect if managed properly. Many factors can influence the production of potato farming. The efficient use of production factors will increase the productivity of potato farming. The research aims to (1) find out the general picture of potato farming in Merangin Regency and (2) find out the use of inputs that affect the production of potato farming in Merangin Regency. The method of sampling is simple random sampling in this study because potato farmers in the study area have homogeneous conditions. Samples were taken in two potato-producing centers in Jangkat District, namely Renah Alai Village and Pulau Tengah Village as many as 57 farmers were sampled. Data analysis was performed descriptively quantitative using two stage least square (2SLS). The results showed that (1) Potato farming activities in Jangkat District began with the activities of hatchery, land management, planting, maintenance, and harvesting. Maintenance activities include irrigation, weeding, and fertilizing. Inputs on potato farming simultaneously have a significant effect on the yield of potato production, while partially the inputs that affect the production results include Land Area (X1), Seed (X2), Fertilizer (X4), Pesticides (X5) with Sig, <0 , 05, while the input that has no effect is labor (X3) with a Sig. > 0.05 Keywords: potato, production, farming
