Abstract

INFLUENCE OF ARBUSCULAR MYCORRHIZAL (AM) FUNGI ON THE GROWTH OF SEEDS KAYU PACAT (Harpullia arborea (Blanco)Radlk.) Harpullia arborea timber plant is one of endemic plants that live in Kerinci Seblat National Park (TNKS). Based on observations that have been done in the area TNKS, especially in the Village Tamiai, kayu pacat rarely found. Kayu pacat has a very high economic value, and the leaves can be used as antimalarial, kayu pacat need to be cultivation in order not extinct. The cultivation that has been done is propagation through seedlings, constrained by slow growth can be overcome by way of mycorrhizal inoculation. The purpose of this research is to know the influence of inoculation of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal (AM) fungi to growth of H. arborea and to know the optimum dose for growth of kayu pacat. This research is a research using Completely Randomized Design (RAL) consisting of 6 treatments that is with dose 0 g, 5 g, 10 g, 15 g, 20 g, and 25 g. Repetition is done 4 times, so there are 24 units of experimental unit. The resulting results will be analyzed statistically by analysis of variance (Anova), different test between treatments with Duncan Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) test at 5% real level. The results showed that (MA) with different doses in each treatment, gave the only influence on the percentage of root colonization that is the highest 60% (high category) and lowest 7.50% (low category). Beside of some parameters that is plant growth, stem diameter increase and increase of leaf number not. Parameters of 10 cm high dose stem parameters were able to increase the highest stem height 19.17 cm and the lowest was 10.37 cm, the parameter of leaf number 10 g increased the highest leaf number 40.25 and the lowest was 18,25, and the parameter of the stem diameter 10 dose g increase the highest stem diameter 2.27 mm and lowest 1.69 mm Based on the results of the study, concluded the dosing of (MA) on the wood seedlings H. arborea at the percentage of root colonization. However it does not develop in plant growth, stem diameter increase, and leaf number increase. Optimal doses obtained for growth of all variables of H. arborea pacating seedlings are 10 g of treatment. It is recommended to use the dose of FMA in H. arborea seedlings with 10 g of bright dosage combined with planting medium plus timing observation on woody plants.
