This research is an experimental research that aims to: (1) describe the value of narrative essay writing skills of students who learn to use conventional learning models; (2) describe the value of students' narrative essay writing skills who learn to use the Mind Mapping model; (3) determine the effect of the Mind Mapping model on the narrative essay writing skills of seventh grade students of SMP 11 Kota Jambi. This research was conducted in Class VII 11 Jambi City. The number of samples determined in this study is 44, and the sampling technique is the Simple Random Sampling Technique. Data collection techniques used in this study are test techniques and the use of student performance instruments. The data obtained were then analyzed using descriptive analysis and inferential analysis, and the research hypothesis was tested using the T-test. The results of the description analysis in this study are, (1) the value of students' narrative essay writing skills who learn to use the conventional model < 70% of the KKM that has been set, namely 41.56 < 70% so that H0 is accepted and H1 is rejected; (2) the value of the narrative essay writing skills of students who learn to use the Mind Mapping model > 70% of the KKM that has been set, namely 81.56 > 70% so that H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected; (3) there is an effect of the Mind Mapping model on students' narrative essay writing skills, it can be seen from the results of the t-test which shows that the P value > 0.05 is rejected, and is also supported by the t arithmetic value table which is 7.811 > 0.00 with df = 48 at the 5% significance level is 0.00, so H1 is accepted and Ho is rejected.
