First Supervisor : Bunga Ayu Wulandari, S.Pd., M.EIL., Ph.D. second Supervisor : Eddy Haryanto, S.Pd.,M.Sc.Ed., MPP., Ph.D. Keywords : Debate, Learning Method, Implementation, Benefits, Challanges, Classroom The purpose of this research is to decribe the debate learning implemented in grade XI at senior high school in Tebo by highlighting two aspects: implementation of debate learning method in student’s activities in the classroom and the advantages also disadvantages of debate learning method implemenetd in the classroom. The researcher used qualitative descriptive research method. Data were collected by conducting interviews. The instrument used by the researcherare human instrument and interview questions. The results of the research are: In implementation of debate learning method in the classroom has three stages: It is started by discussing the material that became a topic for debate, then point out the information and the last summ up the discussion before start the debate practice. The implementation of debate learning method has provide advantages in the form of: improving communicatin skills, honing critical thinking and increasing vocabulary. While the disadvantages are in the term on teaching ang learning. In teaching, teacher has dificulty determining topics that are balanced for both teams (pro and contra) and directing students who are off topic. On the other side, students have difficulty in gathering information wthin a certain time limit and have difficulty understanding bias motions.
