Abstract

Development of Cassiavera production in Kerinci Regency in 2010-2019 increased even though it seemed likely to fluctuate. In addition to cultivation, production is also influenced by the efficiency of the use of production factors allocated by farmers such as harvested area, number of workers, financial capital, number of principal plants, and plant age. The aim of this research is :(1) Describe Cassiavera farming, (2). Is the Cassiavera commodity a leading commodity, (3) Analyzing the factors that affect Cassiavera production, (4) Analyzing the income and welfare of Cassiavera farmers, and (5) Formulating a Cassiavera farming development strategy. The location of the research is Kerinci Regency. The data analysis method used is Cobb Douglass production function, basic economic concept, welfare concept, and SWOT analysis. The results showed that Cassiavera farming still uses simple cultivation. Cassiavera is a leading commodity in Kerinci Regency. The regression results show that the variable harvested area, number of workers, financial capital, number of principal plants, and age of the plant as a whole and individually have a significant effect on Cassiavera production. Viewed from Cassiavera farming income is known that farmers can save or set aside from their income, which is Rp. 5,443,684,-/month. The position of the Cassiavera development strategy in Kerinci Regency is in quadrant I (0.81; 1.36) and is an SO strategy. Conclusions: (1) Cassiavera farming is cultivated by farmers with the aim of future investment, savings, and urgent needs, (2) Cassiavera commodity is the base sector in Kerinci Regency, (3) The use of production factors as a whole and individually has a significant effect on Cassiavera production, (4) The level of ability of Cassiavera farmers in meeting their needs is categorized as being able to improve their welfare, (5) Cassiavera development in Kerinci Regency is strongly influenced by external factors.
