Abstract

The election of candidacy for Governor and Deputy Governor of Jambi Province in 2020 experienced dynamics in terms of candidacy carried out by the National Mandate Party. The objectives to be achieved in this study are to identify and analyze the candidacy for the National Mandate Party and the reasons behind the National Mandate Party in carrying out the candidacy for Governor and Deputy Governor of Jambi Province in 2020. In this study, a descriptive quantitative approach was used. The results of this study indicate that in the process of candidacy for the National Mandate Party in the 2020 Jambi Governor and Deputy Governor Elections, it looks pragmatic and electoral where the promotion carried out by the National Mandate Party in Jambi Province is only oriented towards candidates who have the potential to win in the Governor election. and the Deputy Governor of Jambi Province in 2020. Then there is no authority for the National Mandate Party at the local level to recommend instead of determining regarding the nomination of candidacy, meaning that the Central Executive Board will determine and decide who will be carried by the Jambi Province National Mandate Party in 2020.
