Abstract

ABSTRAK Sarkofagus salah satu tinggalan megalitik yang digunakan sebagai wadah kubur maupun sebagai media pemujaan. Sarkofagus banyak dijumpai di daerah Sumatera Utara salah satunya di Desa Aek Godang Arbaan, Kabupaten Humbang Hasundutan. Rumusan masalah pada penelitian ini yaitu, bagaimana bentuk sarkofagus dan bagaimana fungsi sarkofagus dalam tradisi kubur pada masyarakat Desa Aek Godang Arbaan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bentuk dan fungsi sarkofagus dalam tradisi kubur masyarakat Aek Godang. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi literatur, observasi, dan wawancara. Analisis data menggunakan analisis morfologi dan analisis teknologi. Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa Sarkofagus di Desa Aek Godang Arbaan adalah salah satu media kubur. Bentuk sarkofagus tersebut yang menyerupai perahu disertai lubang menyerupai lesung. Lubang ini berfungsi sebagai tempat penyimpanan tulang-belulang. Sarkofagus ini dipercaya sebagai alat trasportasi si mati menuju dunia mati. Media kubur ini menunjukkan status si mati di tengah lingkungan sosial masyarakat. Penguburan pada sarkofagus ini dilakukan secara primer dan sekunder di khususkan untuk golongan tertentu. Kata kunci : Sarkofagus,Aek Godang Arbaan, metode, analisis, fungsi. ABSTRACT The sarcophagus is one of the megalithic remains that is used as a burial receptacle as well as a medium of worship. Sarcophagi are often found in North Sumatra, one of which is in Aek Godang Arbaan Village, Humbang Hasundutan Regency. The formulation of the problem in this study is, how is the shape of the sarcophagus and how is the function of the sarcophagus in the grave tradition of the Aek Godang Arbaan Village community. The purpose of this study was to determine the shape and function of the sarcophagus in the grave tradition of the Aek Godang community. The method used is literature study, observation, and interviews. Data analysis used morphological analysis and technology analysis. The results of the study stated that the sarcophagus in Aek Godang Arbaan Village was one of the grave media. The shape of the sarcophagus resembles a boat with a hole resembling a dimple. This hole serves as a storage place for bones. The sarcophagus is believed to be a means of transporting the dead to the world of the dead. This grave media shows the status of the dead in the social environment. Burials in this sarcophagus are carried out primary and secondary specifically for certain groups.
