Abstract

Background : Schizophrenia is one of the mental health problems of global concern. According to WHO 2019 that affects about 23 million people worldwide. The results of the Riskesdas 2018 that as many as 84.9% of people with schizophrenia in Indonesia had received treatment. However, non-routine is higher as much as 51.1%. In Jambi , the schizophrenia’s patients in 2020 was 1,729 peoples. The purpose of this study to describe the level of medication adherence in schizophrenia patients using the medication adherence rating scale at the Jambi Provincial Mental Hospital. Methods : This study is a description of the level of medication adherence in schizophrenia patients using the medication adherence rating scale. The sample in this study is 100 peoples. Sampling used consecutive sampling technique, namely patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. This research was conducted at the Jambi Provincial Mental Hospital in December 2021 – January 2022. Results : The results showed that of the 100 respondents most of the respondents were 36-45 years old 30%, respondents with the most gender were men 57%, most had jobs 55%, the most recent education was high school 33%, almost half unmarried 51%, most of them from outside the city of Jambi 60%, duration of suffering at most 1-5 years 46%, most of the respondents receiving atypical antipsychotic therapy 78%, based on the medication adherence rating scale most of them had a level of non-compliance is 55%. Conclusion : The majority of patients with schizophrenia outpatients have non-complience. Keywords: Compliance, Schizophrenia, Medication adherence rating scale
