Abstract
ABSTRACT Aizah Fauzi, 2022,Teachers Perspective toward Online Learning Usage in Teaching English During COVID-19 Pandemic. A Thesis. English Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Jambi University. Advisors. Mr. Hadiyanto , S.Pd, M.Ed., Ph.D and Mr. Habizar, S.Pd., MESL Starting from the beginning of 2020 the whole world is experiencing a virus Covid-19 that causes orders from the government to do all activities online including in the education system. Based on that the teaching and learning process is done by the online learning. This study aimed to describe the teachers’ perspective toward online learning usage in teaching English during covid-19 pandemic since the online learning is implemented by the start of 2020. The subject was 5 senior high school teachers in Nipah Panjang. Interviews were used for collecting data. After collecting the data, the researcher transcribed the interview and familiarizing the data. It showed that some teachers designed the learning materials by searching some videos related to the topic and use teaching materials book, textbook, and student’s worksheet then will be collaborated with different learning strategies by each teacher. From the data, it found that the teachers used some applications or platform to support the online learning process. The teachers use WhatsApp, Google Meet, Youtube, Zoom Meeting, Google Classroom, Kahoot, Kaizala, Quizizz, and Edpuzzle. Furthermore, the teachers faced some obstacles when implementing the online learning. They are; the internet network, family economy, and the limitation of time. This research is expected to give more information to the teachers about online learning. Thus, they can improve their teaching and learning process become more interesting. In addition, it also expected to make teachers can discover the problem that appear while doing online learning. Key words: Teachers’ Perspective, Covid-19, Online Learning
