Abstract

Background: Diarrhea is the biggest cause of death in Indonesia and the incidence of diarrhea in Indonesia is increasing every year. Hiang Health Center is the health center with the highest number of diarrhea sufferers in Kerinci Regency. Based on the results of initial data in the working area of the Hiang Health Center, there were 132 (14.9%) cases of diarrhea in children under five. The purpose of this study is to determine the factors associated with the incidence of diarrhea in children under five in the working area of the Hiang Health Center, Kerinci Regency in 2021. Methods: This research is a type of quantitative research with a cross-sectional research design. The population in this study amounted to 886 toddlers with a sample of 100 toddlers. The sampling technique used is Simple Random Sampling. Results: This study found that there was a significant relationship between knowledge (P-value 0.000 < 0.05), CTPS behavior (P-value 0.000 < 0.05), latrine ownership (P-value 0.000 < 0.05), and support staff. health (P-value 0.000 < 0.05) with the incidence of diarrhea in children under five in the working area of the Hiang Health Center, Kerinci Regency in 2021. Conclusion: It can be concluded that there is a relationship between the factors of diarrhea incidence, namely knowledge, CTPS behavior, latrine ownership, and support from health workers for the incidence of diarrhea in children under five in the working area of the Hiang Health Center, Kerinci Regency 2021.
