Abstract

Background : Based on the main UNICEF report, it is known that 1.6 billion students worldwide including Indonesia are affected by disruption of routines, schools, recreation, anxiety about family finances and family health causing children and adolescents to feel fear, anger, and worry about their future. Since March 17, 2020 all of students in the world doing online learning and it has made children and adolescents feel isolated and constrained because they can’t going anywhere, they can’t meet their peers, and feel anxious and worried about contracting the Covid-19 virus so that it affects their mental health. The study aim to determind what factors were correlated to the mental health of adolescents during the Covid-19 pandemic at SMP Negeri 24 Jambi City in 2022. Methods: This research was quantitative with a cross sectional study design. The population were 678 students and the sample were 118 students. Taken by systematic random sampling. Data collected on 21-23 March 2022 used the SRQ- 20 questionnaire. Data were analyzed two stages, univariate and bivariate with chi-squared test. Result : Based on the results of the study, variables that had a significant correlation with mental health were gender (p-value=0,000;PR=0,590), family support (p-value=0,000;PR=1,969) peer interaction (p-value=0,000;PR=1,971), and online learning (p-value=0,000;PR=2,769). Conclusion : There is a significant correlated between gender, family support, peer interaction, and online learning with adolescent mental health during the Covid-19 pandemic at SMP Negeri 24 Jambi City. For students, it is better to improving a good relationship between friends. For teachers, it is better to manage study hours according to schedule Key Words : Mental Health, Teenager, Online Learning, Covid-19.
