Abstract

BACKGROUND In diagnosing depression on young adult RADS (ReynoldAddolecent Depression Scale) is the rigt inventory to use than other validinventory. This study is done in attempt to modify RADS (Reynold Addolecent Depression Scale) so that it can spesifically detect depression amongst Addolecent in Jambi CIty. OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study is to arrange the right concept indiagnosing depression in addolecent, so to modify RADS and produce aninventory that can be used by addolecent in jambi city with great accuracy. METHOD This research uses a measurement instrument construction researchapproach. The population of this study is addolecent in Jambi city. The samplingsimple random sampling, with 100 respondents. The validity test used is principal component analysis. RESULTS The results of orthogonal rotation and varimax extraction resultedin5main components forming the depression inventory, namely developmental taskcomponent, physical health, peers, family, and school. Cronbach Alpha reliabilityshows a coefficient value of 0.912 which means it is satisfactory. Measuringnorms based on hypothetical norms refer to the normal distribution. DISCUSSION The item shows component loading values ranging fromabout 0.404 to 0.792 which means the item has well enough ability to measure the subvalue or component in question
