Analyzing Students’ Challenges Toward Listening Comprehension in Virtual Class at Jambi University: Thesis, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education University of Jambi, First Supervisor: Dr. Dra. Rosinta Norawati, M.A. Second supervisor: Hidayati, S.Pd., M.Pd. Key words: Challenges, listening comprehension, virtual class. Listening is a crucial skill because it is the main source of input and the most widely used in daily life. When listening, several students have experienced many challenges. Students have problems in listening comprehension because universities and schools pay more attention to writing, reading, and vocabulary. In virtual class, many students have significant challenges in listening comprehension. This research aimed to analyze challenges toward listening comprehension in virtual class and what are the factors that cause the challenges faced by the fourth semester students of English study program academic year 2021/2022 who had studied virtual listening classes in their first and second semester at Jambi University. This research was designed by using qualitative. The approach used by the researcher is case study approach. To obtain the data, interviews were conducted by the researcher in collecting the data. The technique used in determining the participants was purposive sampling and there were 12 participants in this research. Based on the results, the researcher found that students are having challenges in listening comprehension in virtual classes. The findings of this research emerged: challenges related to the listener, challenges related to the speaker, challenges related to message content, and the challenges that come from physical conditions.
