Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: Low back pain (LBP) is pain, muscle, or stiffness between the lower ribs and the lower buttocks with or without propagation of the limbs. Several extensive studies around the world have investigated that stress factors are associated with LBP. Objective: To determine the relationship between stress level and intensity of back pain in RSUD H. Abdul Manap Jambi. Methods: This study was conducted using an analytical observational method with a cross sectional approach. Data collection using two instruments: Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) and Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scales-21 (DASS-21) Results: Description of the characteristics of LBP patients by gender, which is dominated by the female group, by age, which is dominated by the elderly age group (46-65 years), by occupation which is dominated by the informal group, based on the last education dominated by the elementary and high school groups, and based on the income dominated by very large income (> IDR 3,500,000). There is a significant relationship between stress levels and pain intensity with a P value = 0.013 and a correlation coefficient value of 0.443 Conclusion: There is a relationship between stress levels and pain intensity in LBP patients. Keywords: Stress level, pain intensity, low back pain, Jambi city ABSTRAK Latar belakang: Nyeri punggung bawah (NPB) merupakan nyeri, ketegangan otot, atau kekakuan yang berada di antara batas rusuk bagian bawah dan lipatan bokong bawah dengan atau tanpa perambatan ke tungkai. Beberapa penelitian ekstensif di seluruh dunia telah meneliti bahwa faktor stres berhubungan dengan NPB. Tujuan: Mengetahui hubungan antara tingkat stres dan intensitas nyeri pada pasien nyeri punggung bawah di RSUD H. Abdul Manap Jambi. Metode: Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode observatif analitik dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Pengumpulan data menggunakan dua instrumen: Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) dan Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scales-21 (DASS-21) Hasil: Gambaran karakteristik pasien NPB berdasarkan jenis kelamin didominasi oleh kelompok perempuan, berdasarkan umur didominasi oleh kelompok usia lansia (46-65 tahun), berdasarkan pekerjaan didominasi oleh kelompok informal, berdasarkan pendidikan terakhir didominasi oleh kelompok SD dan SMA, dan berdasarkan pendapatan didominasi oleh pendapatan sangat besar (> Rp 3.500.000). Terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara tingkat stres dengan intensitas nyeri dengan nilai P=0,013 dan nilai koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,443 Kesimpulan: Terdapat hubungan sedang antara tingkat stres dengan intensitas nyeri pada pasien NPB.
