Abstract

ABSTRACT Oktaviani, Dian. (2018). Developing English Learning Material of Basic Vocabulary for Young Learners”. Thesis, English Study Program. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Jambi University in Academic Year 2018/2019. First supervisor: Drs. Saharudin, M.Ed, M.App.Sc., PhD. and second supervisor: Hidayati M.Pd. Keywords: English Learning Material, Vocabulary, Young Learners, Research and Development by using ADDIE Model. This Research and development study aimed to develop English Learning Material of Basic Vocabulary for Young Learners. This development used ADDIE model which consists of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The researcher used open ended questionnaire, and also expert theory about young learners to collect all data and information. The participants of this study were young learners 7 years old, in SD 205/IV Jambi City. After the learning material was developed, it was validated by material and design experts as validators. The learning material provides vocabularies, complete with learning activity and exercises and also supported with audio drilling pronunciation to help the young learners know about the sound of the word. The vocabulary discussed were part of body, the universal features of the environment, common and everyday thing and lowest numeral. The revision of learning material has been tested in small individual and big individual to investigate students’ response when used the learning material. The findings showed that the learning material is accepted to facilitated young learners to learn English independently at home, this learning material greatly easy to use and make teaching process become interestingly accordance to young learners’ interest, characteristic and development.
