Abstract

Heterozigositas populasi itik Kerinci berada dalam golongan sedang, nilai Ho(0,33)<He(0,48). ABSTRACT. The goal of this study was to determine Kerinci duck body weight, weight gain, and body size, as well as the diversity of Growth Hormone genes. 96 Kerinci ducks and 96 Kerinci duck blood samples were used in the study. The method of investigation is experimental. Body weight, weight gain, and body size of Kerinci ducks were analyzed, as well as growth hormone (GH) gene association, t-test, T2-hotelling, principal component analysis, genotype and allele frequencies, hardy-weinberg balance, heterozygozity, and polymorphic information content ( PIC). Body weight, body weight gain, and body sizes of male Kerinci ducks were significantly different (P<0.05) higher than female Kerinci ducks. The GH|XbaI gene has three genotypes, namely ++ (41%), +- (33%), and -- (25%) and two alleles, namely +(58%) and –(41%). The Kerinci duck population is in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. The heterozygosity of the Kerinci duck population was in the medium group, the value Ho(0,33)<He(0,48). The PIC(0.42) primer used was quite informative as a marker of the GH|XbaI gene. The Kerinci duck GH|XbaI gene was linked to body weight, weight gain, and body measurements, with the ++ genotype performing the best. Male Kerinci ducks had higher average body weight, weight gain, and body sizes than female Kerinci ducks. Body size characteristics in male and female Kerinci ducks are sternum length, chest circumference, and shank length, while body shape characteristics in male and female Kerinci ducks are wing length. The GH|XbaI gene in Kerinci ducks is polymorphic. The best genotype is considered to be the +/+ genotype.
