Abstract
ABSTRAK Petai merupakan salah satu suku polong-polongan yang dapat dimakan dan juga merupakan salah satu jenis tanaman legume yang dapat meningkatkan fiksasi nitrogen yang bersimbiosis dengan Rhizobium. Pembibitan petai menggunakan media tanam yang tepat akan menentukan pertumbuhan dan produksi petai di lapangan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencari alternatif media tanam pengganti top soil yang sesuai untuk pertumbuhan bibit petai dan mendapatkan dosis media tanam terbaik yang berasal dari campuran subsoil + pupuk kandang ayam yang tepat untuk pertumbuhan bibit petai di pembibitan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di lahan Pembibitan Program Studi Kehutanan Universitas Jambi, Desa Mendalo Darat, Kecamatan Jambi Luar Kota, Kabupaten Muaro Jambi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada April 2021 sampai Juli 2021. Rancangan penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 6 perlakuan. Perlakuan terdiri atas : top soil 100 %, sub soil 100%, top soil + pupuk kandang ayam + pasir (1:1:1), subsoil + pupuk kandang ayam + pasir (1:1:1), subsoil + pupuk kandang ayam + pasir (1:2:1), subsoil + pupuk kandang ayam + pasir (1:3:1). Setiap perlakuan diulang sebanyak 4 kali, dan setiap satuan percobaan terdiri dari 4 bibit sehingga diperoleh total bibit yang digunakan sebanyak 96 tanaman sampel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media tanam yang berasal dari campuran subsoil + pupuk kandang ayam + pasir dapat dijadikan alternatif pengganti top soil pada pembibitan petai dan komposisi media subsoil terbaik untuk pembibitan petai adalah sub soil + pupuk kandang ayam + pasir dengan perbandingan 1:3:1 yang dapat dilihat dari parameter pertumbuhan tinggi, jumlah daun, berat kering tajuk, berat kering akar tersier dan panjang akar. ABSTRACT Petai is one of the tribes of edible legumes and is also a type of legume plant that can increase nitrogen fixation in symbiotic with Rhizobium. Breeding petai using the right planting medium will determine the growth and production of petai in the field. This research aims to find alternative planting media to replace top soil that is suitable for the growth of petai seedlings and obtain the best dose of planting media derived from a mixture of subsoil + chicken manure that is right for the growth of petai seedlings in nurseries. This research was conducted at Nursery land of the Forestry Study Program of the University of Jambi, Mendalo Darat Village, Jambi Outer City District, Muaro Jambi Regency. This research was carried out from April 2021 to July 2021. The design of this study used a Complete Randomized Design (RAL) with 6 treatments. The treatment consists of: top soil 100%, sub soil 100%, top soil + chicken manure + sand (1:1:1), subsoil + chicken manure + sand (1:1:1), subsoil + chicken manure + sand (1:2:1), subsoil + chicken manure + sand (1:3:1). Each treatment was repeated 4 times, and each experimental unit consisted of 4 seedlings so that a total of 96 sample plants were obtained. The results showed that the planting media derived from a mixture of subsoil + chicken manure + sand can be used as an alternative to top soil in petai nurseries and the composition of the best subsoil media for petai breeding is sub soil + chicken manure + sand in a ratio of 1: 3: 1 which can be seen from the parameters of growth height, number of leaves, dry weight of the canopy, dry weight of tertiary roots and length of roots.
