Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to find out the efforts to increase the political participation of novice voters by the KPU in the 2020 Jambi Province regional head elections, as well as to find out the supporting and inhibiting factors of the KPU in increasing the political participation of novice voters in the 2020 Jambi Province regional head elections. This type of research is a descriptive research with data collection methods through interviews and documentation. The data collected are primary and secondary data, while determining the informants using purposive sampling. Data analysis used descriptive analysis. The results showed that efforts to increase the political participation of novice voters by the KPU in the 2020 Jambi Province regional head election were carried out in three ways, namely efforts to prepare political education programs, efforts to implement political education, and efforts to evaluate the implementation of political education. Furthermore, the supporting factor for the KPU in increasing the political participation of first-time voters in the 2020 Jambi Province regional head election is collaboration with stakeholders, while the inhibiting factor for the KPU in increasing the political participation of first-time voters in the 2020 Jambi Province regional head election is that the area is too large and the number too many novice voters. Keywords: increase, political participation, first time voters INTISARI Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui mengetahui upaya peningkatan partisipasi politik pemlih pemula oleh KPU pada pemilihan kepala daerah Provinsi Jambi tahun 2020, serta mengetahui faktor pendukung dan penghambat KPU dalam meningkatkan partisipasi politik pemlih pemula pada pemilihan kepala daerah Provinsi Jambi tahun 2020. Tipe penlitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif dengan metode pengumpulan data melalui wawancara dan dokumentasi. Data yang dikumpulkan adalah data primer dan sekunder, sedangkan penentuan informan menggunakan purposive sampling. Analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa upaya peningkatan partisipasi politik pemlih pemula oleh KPU pada pemilihan kepala daerah Provinsi Jambi tahun 2020 dilakukan dengan tiga cara yaitu upaya penyusunan program pendidikan politik, upaya pelaksanaan pendidikan politik, serta upaya melakukan evaluasi terhadap pelaksanaan pendidikan politik. Selanjutnya faktor pendukung KPU dalam meningkatkan partisipasi politik pemlih pemula pada pemilihan kepala daerah Provinsi Jambi tahun 2020 adalah adanya kerjasama dengan para stakeholder, sedangkan faktor penghambat KPU dalam meningkatkan partisipasi politik pemlih pemula pada pemilihan kepala daerah Provinsi Jambi tahun 2020 adalah wilayah yang terlalu luas dan jumlah pemilih pemula yang terlalu banyak.
