Abstract
Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh media chat online terhadap keterampilan berkomunikasi, pengaruh media chat online terhadap berpikir kritis, pengaruh minat belajar terhadap keterampilan berkomunikasi, pengaruh minat belajar terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis, interaksi antara media chat online dan minat belajar dalam mempengaruhi keterampilan berkomunikasi, serta interaksi antara media chat online dan minat belajar dalam mempengaruhi keterampilan berpikir kritis. Sampel penelitian adalah peserta didik kelas XI IPA SMAN 5 Kota Jambi sebanyak 68 orang yang terbagi menjadi dua kelas, yaitu 33 orang di kelas eksperimen dan 35 orang di kelas kontrol yang dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling. Pembelajaran jarak jauh kedua kelas dilaksanakan melalui aplikasi Zoom Cloud Meeting untuk pembelajaran sinkron. Kelas eksperimen diberi perlakuan berupa pembelajaran dengan memanfaatkan grup WhatsApp sebagai media komunikasi tambahan dalam pembelajaran tak sinkron sedangkan kelas kontrol menggunakan Blog. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen tipe faktorial dengan desain pretest dan posttest perbandingan antarkelas. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa angket minat belajar peserta didik, rubrik penilaian keterampilan berkomunikasi, serta soal esai untuk pretest dan posttest. Analisis data dilakukan dengan teknik analisis varian dua jalur (two way ANOVA) dengan asumsi dasar normalitas, homogenitas, linieritas, dan analisis varian. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan keterampilan berkomunikasi dan berpikir kritis peserta didik dengan media chat online WAG lebih tinggi daripada Blog. Untuk kelompok dengan media chat online Blog, rata-rata nilai tertinggi hingga terendah adalah peserta didik dengan minat belajar tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Untuk kelompok dengan media chat online WAG, rata-rata nilai tertinggi hingga terendah adalah peserta didik dengan minat belajar tinggi, rendah, dan sedang. Peningkatan keterampilan berkomunikasi dan berpikir kritis tertinggi adalah kelompok dengan media chat online WAG kategori minat belajar rendah. Analisis varian menunjukkan penggunaan media chat online dan minat belajar yang berbeda memberikan pengaruh signifikan terhadap keterampilan berkomunikasi dan berpikir kritis. Berdasarkan analisis data dapat disimpulkan media chat online berpengaruh terhadap keterampilan berkomunikasi, media chat online berpengaruh terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis, minat belajar berpengaruh terhadap keterampilan berkomunikasi, minat belajar berpengaruh terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis, terdapat interaksi antara media chat online dan minat belajar dalam mempengaruhi keterampilan berkomunikasi, serta terdapat interaksi antara media chat online dan minat belajar dalam mempengaruhi keterampilan berpikir kritis. The aims of the research was to determine the effect of online chat media on communication skills, to determine the effect of online chat media on critical thinking skills, to determine the effect of interest in learning on communication skills, to determine the effect of interest in learning on critical thinking skills, to determine the interaction between online chat and interest in learning in effecting communication skills, to determine the interaction between online chat and interest in learning in effecting critical thinking skills. The research sample was 68 students from 11th grade students of science high school 5 Jambi City which were divided into two classes, 33 students in the experimental class and 35 students in the control class who selected by purposive sampling technique. Synchronous learning for the classes via Zoom Cloud Meeting. The experimental class was given treathment learned to used WhatsApp Group as asynchronous learning, while the control class used Blog. The methods of research is an quasy experimental factorial type between-group pretest and posttest design. The instruments used were in the form of a student interest in learning questionnaire, an assessment rubric for communication skills, and essay for pretest and posttest. Data analysis was performed using two-way ANOVA technique with the assumptions of normality, homogenity, and effect tests. The results of data analysis show that the average scores of students communication and critical thinking skills who used Whasapp Group as asynchronous learning is higher than who used Blog. For students who used Blog as asynchronous learning, the average highest to lowest scores are students with high, medium, and low interest in learning. For students who used WhatsApp Group as asynchronous learning, the average highest to lowest scores are students with high, low, and medium interest in learning. The highest average increase in the scores of students communication and critical thinking skills is students who used WhatsApp Group as asynchronous learning with low interest in learning categories. The effect test shows that the different use online chat media and interest in learning have an effect on student communication and critical thinking skills. Based on data analysis, it can be concluded that online chat media affects communication skills, online chat media affects critical thinking skills, interest in learning affects communication skills, interest in learning affects critical thinking skills, there is an interaction between online chat media and interest in learning in affecting communication skills, and there is an interaction between online chat media and interest in learning in affecting critical thinking skills.
