Abstract

Background: Suku Anak Dalam (SAD) rubber farmers are a group of informal sector workers who are at risk of work accidents. This is due to the characteristics of the SAD community with low knowledge, behavior or work attitudes that are unsafe and not in accordance with work procedures, as well as limitations in the provision of facilities and infrastructure to support work safety. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with work accidents in SAD rubber farmers in Bukit Suban Village, Sarolangun Regency in 2022. Methods: This research is a quantitative study with a cross sectional approach. The research population was rubber farmers in Bukit Suban Village, Sarolangun Regency with a sample size of 81 heads of families of SAD rubber farmers. Data analysis was performed using the chi-square statistical test. Results: The results showed that the prevalence of work accidents in rubber farmers was 55.6%. The results showed that there was a relationship between age, years of service, safe behavior, use of PPE, and soil conditions with work accidents with a p-value <0.05, while K3 training and location of equipment were not related to work accidents in SAD rubber farmers. The dominant factors causing work accidents are age, soil conditions, and safety behavior. Conclusion: The results of multivariate analysis show that the most dominant factor related to work accidents is age (p-value 0.000, PR=17.076, 95% CI = 4.503-64.757). It is recommended that local government agencies be able to provide assistance related to work safety and provide assistance in the form of PPE in order to increase understanding and knowledge related to work safety so as to reduce the number of work accidents in SAD rubber farmers.
