Abstract
The present study aims to investigate parent perspective in sending their children to learn English in the course. This research was conducted at one of the non-formal educational institutions, namely Bintang Private. This study involved five participants who were parents of young learners. The descriptive qualitative research model is the method that researchers use to express and answer research questions in this study. semi structured interview is a data collection technique used by researchers. The results of the study succeeded in revealing the motives and reasons for parents in sending their children to English courses. The research findings consist of: 1) the parents want their children to be able to speak English fluently, 2) most of parents want their children to have a good grade in English course, 3) the parents want their children to have a good global communication skill and 4) parents want to prepare their children to enter international school. Besides that, the findings also show parents' involvement in children's English language learning development. In this regard, the researchers found that parents succeeded in becoming facilitators who helped the development of children's learning by providing learning facilities such as: ipads, smartphones, laptops, and becoming partners to communicate using English. Lastly, the latest findings reveal parents' expectations in providing English language learning for children such as: 1) children could excel in school and improve their communication skills in English, 2) children could understand English and practice it in the real world and expand connections globally , 3) children can compete competitively in the academic world and get scholarships abroad later and 4) children can understand science from various sources that use English as a lingua franca. Various suggestions and recommendations are also well presented in this study.
