Abstract
Kesimpulan Terdapat hubungan bermakna antara tingkat keparahan cedera otak dengan marker inflamasi C-Reactive Protein (CRP) pada pasien cedera otak traumatik di RSUD Raden Mattaher Kata Kunci Cedera Otak Traumatik, C-Reactive Protein, Glassgow Coma Scale (GCS) Background Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a major cause of disability and mortality in developing countries. The body responds to inflammation by excreting inflammatory markers, C-Reactive Protein (CRP) Objective To determine the relationship between the severity of brain injury and the inflammatory marker C-Reactive Protein (CRP) in traumatic brain injury patients at Raden Mattaher Hospital. Methods An observational analytic study with cross sectional design. Data were taken prospectively by purposive sampling method in TBI patients who came to the ER of RSUD Raden Mattaher for the period August- October 2022 that fulfilled inclusion and exclusion criteria. The severity of the brain injury was determined based on the Glasglow Coma Scale score and CRP examination using qualitative methods Results This study obtained 25 subjects consisting of 11 male patients and 14 female patients with a distribution of 17 (68%) patients with mild TBI, 4 (16%) patients with moderate TBI, and 4 (16%) patients with severe TBI. CRP examination results showed positive results (68%) more than negative results (32%). The correlative fisher exact test showed a significant relationship between the variable severity of brain injury and the inflammatory marker c-reactive protein (p=0.026). Comparative tests showed that there was no significant difference between the CRP values at all levels of injury severity (p=0.70). Conclusion There is a significant relationship between the severity of brain injury and the inflammatory marker C-Reactive Protein (CRP) in traumatic brain injury patients at Raden Mattaher Hospital Keywords Traumatic Brain Injury, C-Reactive Protein, Glassgow Coma Scale (GCS)
