Abstract
Higher education is a continuation of secondary education which aims to prepare students who have academic and professional abilities. The desire to pursue education without good support will reduce the sense of interest and the desire to study harder. The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of peer environment, parents' social economic status on the interest in continuing education to college with self-efficacy as an Intervening variable. This type of research is quantitative research. The population in this study was 200 students of class XI in the academic year 2022/2023. The sampling technique in this study was proportional random sampling with the Slovin formula and produced a sample of 200 students. Data analysis techniques used descriptive analysis, path analysis, and multiple tests. The data collection method uses a questionnaire method. The results showed that the level of social economic status of parent had affect the interest in continuing education to tertiary institutions, while the environment of peers and self efficacy had a positive and significant effect on the interest in continuing education to tertiary institutions. Peer environment has a positive and significant effect on self efficacy, while the social economic status of parents has affect self efficacy. Peer environment has a positive and significant effect on the interest in continuing education to college through self efficacy, while the social economic status of parents has affect the interest in continuing education to college through self efficacy. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the peer environment has a positive and significant effect on the interest in continuing education to higher education and social economic status of parents has a positive effect on the interest in continuing education to higher education, meanwhile self-efficacy is able to mediate the peer environment towards the interest in continuing education to college. high and unable to mediate the level of parental education on interest in continuing education to higher education.Suggestion from research is that studentscan be more selective in choosing friends to become better personal, can give enthusiasm and motivation to improve learning achievement to go to college.
