Abstract

ABSTRAK This study aims to describe the ability to write explanatory text students of class VIII I SMP Negeri 5 Kota Jambi. The approach of this research is quantitative and the research type is descriptive. The subject of the research is the students of class VIII I. The object of research is eskplanasi text, Instrument of this research is performance test. Data collection techniques in this study using measurement techniques and documentation techniques. The results of this study indicate that the ability to write text eksplanasi class VIII I SMP Negeri 5 Kota jambi qualified able with an average value of 72.24 with the percentage of 57.6% of highly capable categorized students. 15.2% of capable categorized students. 9.1% of students are sufficiently categorized. 3% of the students are under-qualified and 15.2% of the students are under-qualified. Ability of students to write explanatory text based on the structure aspect of eskplanasi quality text capable with the average value of 71.69 and the ability to write explanatory text based on the linguistic features of qualified eskplan text capable of averaging 72.81 From the results of this study suggested that students can improve the ability writing explanatory text.
