Abstract

The problem in the research is how students' ability to retell the contents of fable students of class VII E SMP Negeri 14 Kota Jambi academic year 2017/2018. This study aims to find and describe the ability to retell the contents of fable students class VII E. The type and research approach used in this research is quantitative descriptive implemented in SMP Negeri 14 Kota Jambi in April 2018. The subjects of this study are students of class VII E which amounted to 35 students. The data obtained by observing the appearance of retelling the contents of fable by students of class VII E SMP Negeri 14 Kota Jambi with attention to several aspects namely: suitability content, appreciation, pronunciation, intonation and expression. Based on research conducted, the results of research 5 aspects of content suitability, appreciation, pronunciation, intonation and expression (mimic). The ability of students to apply the suitability of highly qualified content with an average value of 82.28. The ability of students to apply appreciation of quality capable with an average value of 78.57. The ability of students to apply quality pronunciation capable with an average value of 72.85. Ability of students to apply intonation able with the average value of 78.85 and students' ability to apply the expression (mimic) of quality capable with an average value of 76.28. Based on the research that can be concluded, the results of this study indicate that the ability to retell the contents of fable students class VII E SMP Negeri 14 Kota Jambi quality capable with an average value of 77.65. From the results of this study it is suggested to the Indonesian language teacher at SMP Negeri 14 Kota Jambi to further improve the teaching of retelling the contents of fables using conformity aspects of content, appreciation, pronunciation, intonation and expression (mimic).
