Abstract

Shallot (Allium ascalonicum L.) is one of the horticultural crops that is in great demand by Indonesian people because red onion is a spice that is almost always present in every dish. The productivity of shallots in Jambi province has not yet reached its yield potential, which is 9.9 tons ha-1. The low productivity of shallots is due to the production which is still seasonal. Efforts to increase productivity must be done, one of which is by fertilizing. This study aims to determine the effect of the application and the best concentration of liquid organic fertilizer from vegetable waste on the growth and yield of shallot plants. This research was conducted at the Teaching and Research Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jambi. The research was conducted from June to August 2022. This study used a Randomized Block Design with one treatment factor, namely the administration of liquid organic fertilizer vegetable waste which consists of 6 treatment levels. The data obtained from each observation variable were analyzed using analysis of variance, if the results had a significant effect then it was continued with the Duncan Multiple Range Test at the 5% level. The observed variables were plant height, number of leaves, number of tillers, number of tubers per clump, weight per clump, fresh tuber weight per clump, dry tuber weight per clump, and tuber weight loss per clump. The results showed that the application of liquid organic fertilizer from vegetable waste had a significant effect on plant height, number of leaves, number of tillers, number of tubers per clump, fresh tuber weight per clump, dry tuber weight per clump, and tuber weight loss per clump, but no effect on weight per clump. The concentration of 50 mL L-1 liquid organic fertilizer vegetable waste is the best concentration. Bawang merah (Allium ascalonicum L.) merupakan salah satu tanaman hortikultura yang sangat diminati oleh masyarakat Indonesia karena bawang merah salah satu bumbu yang hampir selalu ada di dalam setiap masakan. Produktivitas bawang merah di provinsi Jambi masih belum mencapai potensi hasilnya yaitu sebesar 9,9 ton ha-1. Rendahnya produktivitas bawang merah ini disebabkan karena produksinya yang masih bersifat musiman. Usaha peningkatan produktivitas harus dilakukan, salah satunya adalah dengan pemupukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian dan konsentrasi terbaik pupuk organik cair dari limbah sayuran terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman bawang merah. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Teaching and Research Farm Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Jambi. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Juni hingga bulan Agustus 2022. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok (RAK) dengan satu faktor perlakuan yaitu pemberian pupuk organik cair limbah sayuran yang terdiri dari 6 taraf perlakuan. Data yang diperoleh dari tiap variable pengamatan dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis ragam, apabila hasil berpengaruh nyata maka dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan Multiple Range Test pada taraf 5%. Variabel yang diamati adalah tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, jumlah anakan, jumlah umbi per rumpun, bobot per siung, bobot umbi basah per rumpun, bobot umbi kering per rumpun, dan susut bobot umbi per rumpun. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian pupuk organik cair limbah sayuran berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, jumlah anakan, jumlah umbi per rumpun, bobot umbi basah per rumpun, bobot umbi kering per rumpun, dan susut bobot umbi per rumpun, namun tidak berpengaruh terhadap bobot per suing. Konsentrasi 50 mL L-1 pupuk organik cair limbah sayuran merupakan konsentrasi terbaik.
