Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: DHF (Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever) is a disease that is still a priority health issue. The number of DHF cases in Jambi City in 2019 with the highest cases was in the Payo Selincah Village with 69 sufferers and 2 people dying. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between container characteristics and community behavior towards the presence of Aedes Sp mosquito larvae in Payo Selincah Village. Method: This type of research uses an observational analytic method with a cross-sectional approach. This study's population is the Payo Selincah Village population, totaling 3,794 families with a sample size of 103 families. Sampling technique using Simple Random Sampling. Collecting data using questionnaires and observation sheets. The data analysis used was univariate and bivariate using the chi-square test. Results: From the results of the study, it showed that 34% of respondents in their homes found Aedes Sp. mosquito larvae. Factors related to the presence of Aedes Sp mosquito larvae are knowledge (p-value = 0.000), attitude (p-value = 0.002), type of container (p-value = 0.000), container material (p-value = 0.000), container color (p-value = 0.000), Container Location (p-value = 0.000) and Container Condition (p-value = 0.019). Conclusion: All variables are related and closely related to the presence of Aedes Sp mosquito larvae and the lack of public knowledge, so an understanding is needed relating to eradicating mosquito larvae by implementing counseling.
