Abstract

The purpose of this research was to knowed and analyzed the responsibility of coal mining companies in protecting the environment in Batu Ampar Village, as well as knowed and analyzed efforts made by the government for post-mining environmental sustainability in Batu Ampar village, Kemuning district Indragiri Hilir regency. The type of research used descriptive qualitative with primary and secondary data collected. Data collected through interviews, observation and documentation, while data analysis with descriptive analysis. The findings show that the responsibility of coal mining companies in protecting the environment in Batu Ampar Village Kemuning district Indragiri Hilir regency this is done providing CSR funds for environmental improvement programs which are realized through a program of planting a thousand trees and making gardens and gowns, carry out post-mining reclamation and preven environmental pollution. But from that responsibility, it turns out that it has not provided great benefits to the community compared to the environmental damage caused by mining activities. The efforts made by the government for post-mining environmental sustainability in Batu Ampar village, Kemuning district Indragiri Hilir regency was conduct audits and supervision of the implementation of the reclamation process and provide warnings or reprimands for companies whose reclamation is not appropriate.
