Abstract

ABSTRACT: The arabica coffee plant (Coffea arabica L.) is a plant that can be empirically used by the community as an anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, and antioxidant drug. Arabica coffee leaves contain secondary metabolite compounds such as flavonoids, alkaloids, polyphenols and tannins that have the potential to be used as antipyretics. Therefore, this study aims to identify the activity of arabica coffee leaf infusion as an antipyretic. This study used the Complete Randomized Design method with a post test only control group design approach using 25 mice which were divided into 5 treatment groups: K- (Na CMC 0.5%), K + (Paracetamol Suspension), P1 (Arabica coffee leaf infusion 40%), P2 (Arabica coffee leaf infusion 60%), and P3 (Arabica coffee leaf infusion 80%). The observed parameter is a decrease in the temperature of fever in the rectal mice for 120 minutes. The data were analyzed with the One Way Anova statistical test and continued with the Duncan test. The results of the One Way Anova test with Duncan's advanced test proved that the most effective arabica coffee leaf infusion as an antipyretic was a concentration of 80% compared to concentrations of 60% and 40%. Thus it can be concluded that the infusion of arabica coffee leaves with a concentration of 80% almost has the same effectiveness as the fever-reducing drug Paracetamol. ABSTRAK: Tumbuhan kopi arabika (Coffea arabica L.) merupakan tanaman yang secara empiris dapat dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat sebagai obat antiinflamasi, antidiabetes, dan antioksidan. Daun kopi arabika mengandung senyawa metabolit sekunder seperti flavonoid, alkaloid, polifenol dan tanin yang berpotensi dijadikan sebagai antipiretik. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi aktivitas infusa daun kopi arabika sebagai antipiretik. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan pendekatan post test only control group design menggunakan 25 ekor mencit yang dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok perlakuan : K- (Na CMC 0,5%), K+ (Suspensi Paracetamol), P1 (Infusa daun kopi arabika 40%), P2 (Infusa daun kopi arabika 60%), dan P3 (Infusa daun kopi arabika 80%). Parameter yang diamati yaitu penurunan suhu demam pada rektal mencit selama 120 menit. Data dianalisis dengan Uji statistik One Way Anova dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan. Hasil uji One Way Anova dengan uji lanjut Duncan membuktikan bahwa Infusa daun kopi arabika yang paling efektif sebagai antipiretik adalah konsentrasi 80% dibandingkan konsentrasi 60% dan 40%. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa infusa daun kopi arabika konsentrasi 80% hampir memiliki efektivitas yang sama dengan obat penurun demam Paracetamol.
