AZZAHRA, A. 2022, Research and Theses Writing Experiences of Year 2017 Students in English Education Study Program at a Public University in Jambi. Thesis. English Education Study Program. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of Universitas Jambi in Academic Year 2022/2023. The first supervisor is Drs. Ahmad Ridha, M.A,. The second supervisor is Bunga Ayu Wulandari, S.Pd., M.EIL, Ph.D. Key words: Thesis writing, Thesis experiences, Difficulties, Strategies For the good of students, it is highly recommended that students finish their studies as early as possible. It will give them bigger chance for their future career. However, this is the opposite of what happens in English education study programs at one public university in Jambi. There are still many students who are in the writing process. There are still 25% of students English education study program at one public university in Jambi year 2017 who still need to finish their thesis. Therefore the researcher tried to find out about students' theses, the topic and method used also the experience they had while writing their thesis. Qualitative research with interviews and document analysis was done in collecting the data. Before interviewing 6 participants, the researcher visited three websites to get former data and analyze it. Based on the findings, more than half of the students chose qualitative research. They had different topics such as English skills, teaching and the media used, sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, translation, and learning motivation combined with the pandemic Covid 19. The participants' experience was also numerous from positive and negative pandemic effects, well and unwell supervision experience and writing difficulties such as writing style, grammar and plagiarism. Four difficulties that caused the students to finish their studies late: stuck with the idea, hard finding related journals, not focus, and lack of motivation. There are also four strategies: make a target, have a study partner, read many sources and do a small research.
