Abstract
Technological advancement has been employed to enhance teaching and learning process, especially in learning English language, In actual fact, Indonesian high school students have difficulty communicating in English. The teacher as someone who plays a major role in student learning is expected to be able to overcome this by integrating learning media as a solution to students' challenges in learning, especially speaking. This study aimed to find out how teacher use YouTube videos as a medium in teaching speaking. This research adopted a qualitative method with a case study approach consisting one of English teacher participant who teaches at SMAN 11 Muaro Jambi. The source of the data was taken from an in-depth interview that was analyzed using thematic analysis. Based on the findings of the study, it was found that to present YouTube videos in the class the teacher utilized the smart phones that owned by each student. The teacher likewise provided assignments in the form of presentations, role plays, and group discussions to encourage students to learning speaking.
