Abstract
Aeron Frimals. Classroom Action Research, 2023. Improving Beginning Reading Ability Using Flashcard Media Using the Silaba Method for Dyslexic Class II Students at SLBN 1 Jambi City, Masters Program in Basic Education, University of Jambi. Advisor 1 Dr. dr. Destrinelli, M.Pd. and Advisor 2 Bunga Ayu Wulandari, S.Pd., M.EIL., Ph.D.. This study aims to find out how the use of media flashcards with the silaba method improves initial reading skills in class II SLBN 1 Jambi City and whether the use of Media Flashcards with the siaba method can improve initial reading comprehension in class II SLBN 1 Jambi City. This research is a class action research (classroom action research) using the model design from Suharsimi Arikunto. This study consisted of two cycles and each cycle consisted of two meetings consisting of planning, action, observation and reflection activities. The participants in this study were 3 students of class II SLBN 1 Jambi City, consisting of 2 female students and 1 male student. Methods of data collection through data: teacher observation sheets, student notes, observations with flashcards and the silaba method and the results of student observations then the results of the action data are reflected to determine the actions of the next cycle and the final conclusions of the study. The results showed that the use of flashcards in early reading learning in class II SLBN 1 Jambi City could increase students' interest and reading skills in beginning reading lessons. The increase in interest and initial reading ability in class II students of the special school can be seen in the enthusiasm of the students in the learning process. Students are interested in using flashcar media and students feel comfortable besides that students look focused when the teacher explains lessons in class. The use of flashcard media in learning to read at the beginning of special schools makes it easier for students to memorize, understand, pronounce letters, syllables and sentences in learning Indonesian. The data also shows that out of 3 students, 2 students have been able to read with correct and fluent intonation. This shows that the application of flashcard media with the silaba method can increase student motivation and interest in learning, especially in early reading lessons in special schools.
