Abstract

East Tanjung Jabung Regency is nowdays, paying a great effort to optimize its potential resources in order to accelerate its regional economic growth. This study aimed to: 1) to analyse the contribution of agricultural sector in East Tanjung Jabung Regency, 2) to analyse the strategic environment of food crops sub-sector in Regency's economy 3) to identify potential area of farm crops in the area of regency. The analysis method used in this study is data compilation and analysis of survey data. The result showed that: 1) The agricultural sector is still the major contributor to the East Tanjung Jabung Regency during the period of year 2007 to 2009. 2) Based on the data analysis it could be concluded that the development strategy suit to develop food crop farming in the regency could be done by: a) creating a new food farm crop, b) markets expansion, input production direct aids, c) Optimization of agriculture institutional capacity.
