Abstract

ABSTRACT Atika, Indri Nilam. 2023. Developing Android-based Application for Vocational High School in Learning Tense. Thesis. English Education Study Program. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of Universitas Jambi in Academic year 2022/2023. The first supervisor is Drs. Marzul Hidayat, M.A., Ph.D. The second supervisor is Dr. Fortunasari, S.S., M.A. The students at Vocational High School in Sarolangun, Jambi, have some difficulties understanding the English Tense which is very essential in understanding sentence meaning related to time activities. This research aims to develop an android-based application to help them overcome their difficulties. The development of the application makes use of the Kodular website and follows the five stages of the ADDIE model namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and evaluation. The data for this research were collected using a questionnaire and then analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The result of this research is a product of an android-based application called FunTense which accommodates students’ needs and preferences in learning the four English Tenses. The product is valid from media and content validity. The result of students’ response indicated as excellent response with total percentage 92,95%. The application can help the 96% students understand tenses effectively and they find learning English tense via this application interesting and enjoyable.
