Abstract
This study aims to obtain information about the ability to analyze the characterization, plot and mandate script drama subject to the text book text Indonesian language students class VIII K SMP Negeri 5 Kota Jambi Lesson 2017/2018. The type and approach used in this research is quantitative descriptive. Subjects in this study were students of class VIII K SMP Negeri 5 Kota Jambi which amounted to 30 people. Technique used in this research is performance test in the form of test to analyze characterization, plot and drama script. The results of this study indicate that the students' ability to analyze the characterization, plot and the script mandate of the baton drama on Indonesian text book students of class VIII K SMP Negeri 5 Kota Jambi Lesson Year 2017/2018 categorized able with the average value of 70.89. Aspects of characterizations obtained an average score of 71 with a category capable. The groove aspect scores an average of 69.67 on a capable category. The aspect of the mandate obtains a mean value of 72 with a category capable. Based on the results of this study suggested to teachers of Indonesian language in SMP Negeri 5 Kota Jambi to be more intensive in teaching aspects of characterization, plot and mandate.
