Abstract
The effect of transition metal (Co, Ni) on the HZSM-5 via hydrocracking of rubber seed oil was investigated. It was performed in a batch reactor to produce biofuel. The catalyst was characterized by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), and Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX). The product of biofuel was analyzed using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS). The hydrocracking was conducted in a batch reactor. Then, 1 g of catalyst was introduced into the reactor with 200 ml of rubber seed oil for 2 h under a hydrogen gas (H2) flow. The reaction temperature from 300-400 oC for 2 h. The results show at a temperature of 375 oC with metal loading 10% and the metal ratio of 1:2 was obtained the highest yield of biogasoil of 47.86%. At 350 oC, the optimal yield of bio-kerosene was obtained, with metal loading of 5% and a metal ratio of 1:1. It showed the temperature mainly affected the hydrocracking process. The Co-Ni/HZSM-5 catalyst also improved the aromatic compounds production in the biofuel product.
