The main purpose of this study is to explain the relationship between work motivation and performance of honorary employees. In general, the performance of honorary employees is difficult to explain and assess, especially in government agencies, because responsibilities, main tasks and salaries are different from permanent employees. Based on the theory of work motivation, employee performance can be explained by examining the motives of work motivation. The explanation is measured by motives (a) physiological needs (b) security needs (c) social needs, (d) recognition needs and (e) self-actualization needs. Collecting data using a questionnaire with purposive sampling technique on 100 temporary employees from 20 Regional Government Organizations of Jambi Province. Data analysis using multiple regression and processed with SPSS 22 software. The results of the study prove that there is a moderate influence of work motivation, work motivation motives contribute to employee performance by 59.2%, and partially physiological motives are very dominant to improve the performance of honorary employees. Recommendations for improving the performance of temporary work employees by providing work motivation related to physiological needs, a sense of security and recognition.
