Abstract

Ultisols are a type of soil with several limiting factors for agricultural cultivation, one of which is the relatively high soil density. It is due to soil characteristics sensitive to erosion, low soil organic matter content, and low aggregate stability. This condition causes the soil to decompose quickly, and soil compaction occurs due to the blockage of the soil pores by eroded soil particles. Efforts to improve density are the addition of soil organic matter through bokashi. This study aims to determine the effect of rice husk bokashi on Ultisol density and soybean yield. This study used a randomized block design (RBD) with five treatments and five groups, namely b0=no bokashi, b1=7.5 tons/ha bokashi, b2=15 tons/ha bokashi, b3=22.5 tons/ha bokashi and b4=30 ton/ha bokashi. Parameters observed were bulk density, porosity, organic matter, Corganic, moisture content, penetration resistance, plant height, and soybean yield. The research data were analyzed using variance to see the effect of the average treatment followed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test at α = 5%. This study shows that applying rice husk bokashi as much as 30 tons/ha does not improve soil density. However, using rice husk bokashi with an amount of 7.5 tons/ha compared to the control increased soybean plants' growth rate and yield.
