Abstract
ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat respons pepaya (Carica papaya L) varietas Merah Delima terhadap jumlah pemberian air dan mendapatkan jumlah pemberian air yang terbaik untuk pertumbuhan bibit pepaya varietas Merah Delima. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di lahan pembibitan Balai Penelitian Tanaman Buah Tropika, Aripan, Kabupaten Solok, Sumatera Barat pada ketinggian tempat ±413 meter di atas permukaan laut. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan taraf jumlah air sebanyak 40%, 60%, 80%, dan 100% yang diberikan berdasarkan kapasitas lapang. Setiap perlakuan diulang sebanyak 6 kali dengan masing-masing perlakuan terdiri dari 4 tanaman sehingga terdapat 96 tanaman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian air dengan jumlah yang berbeda menunjukkan pengaruh berbeda nyata pada parameter bobot basah dan bobot kering tanaman. Sementara itu pengaruh yang tidak berbeda nyata terhadap parameter pertambahan tinggi tanaman, pertambahan jumlah daun, dan parameter diameter batang. Pemberian air dengan jumlah 60% kapasitas lapang Pada parameter pertambahan tinggi dan pertambahan jumlah daun merupakan perlakuan terbaik untuk meningkatkan pertumbuhan bibit pepaya varietas merah delima. Kata kunci : Pepaya, varietas merah delima, air, kapasitas lapang ABSTRACT This study aims to look at the response of papaya (Carica papaya L) of the Merah Delima variety to the amount of water given and to find the best amount of water for the growth of papaya seedlings of the Merah Delima variety. This research was carried out in the nursery of the Tropical Fruit Plants Research Institute, Aripan, Solok Regency, West Sumatra at an altitude of ±413 meters above sea level. This study used a randomized block design (RBD) with water levels of 40%, 60%, 80% and 100% given based on field capacity. Each treatment was repeated 6 times with each treatment consisting of 4 plants so that there were 96 plants. The results showed that the application of water with different amounts showed a significantly different effect on the parameters of wet weight and dry weight of plants. Meanwhile, the effect was not significantly different on the parameters of plant height increase, increase in the number of leaves, and stem diameter parameters. Giving water with an amount of 60% of field capacity on the parameters of height and number of leaves is the best treatment to increase the growth of papaya seedlings of the ruby red variety.
