Abstract

The main objective of this Thesis is to indicate the influence of domestic and external industrial factors on firm value with the indicators Price to Book Value (PBV), Tobin's Q and excess return, which is mediated by financial performance with the indicators Return On Sales (ROS), Return On Assets (ROA), Return On Investment (ROI) and Return On Equity (ROE). This research concerns fourteen coal mining companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the period 2017 – 2021. According to the research results, the main industrial factors in creating corporate value are external factors which include coal prices, oil prices and gas prices. An interesting result is that financial performance plays a significant role as a mediating variable, which is mediating industry factors on firm value. The conclusions of the research enable academics and practitioners to formulate theories about monitoring and hedging of commodity price risk, improving and strengthening relationships with suppliers, and developing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
