Abstract
Abstract This research was conducted in conjunction with Milir Berakit First Expedition held in early 2023, through tracking on the Batanghari River route along the expedition. This expedition was initiated by Friends of the Sungai Batanghari Foundation. Currently, The Batanghari River is experiencing anthropogenic pressure, such as coal mining, illegal gold mining, and domestic pollution. This brings ecological changes to the river and fish biodiversities in the Batanghari River. This research aims to 1) Reveal the type of anthropogenic pressure of the Batanghari River 2) Describe the conditions of ecology Batanghari River and 3) Fish Biodiversity in The Batanghari River. Sample collected from four village stations included: Matagual, Pasar Terusan, Sungai Baung, and Lubuk Ruso. Fish are collected using various fishing gears, namely fishing rods, gills nets, traps, and traditional traps (rawai). Water quality analysis using the Horiba Water Quality Checker. The result of this research shows fishes in the Batanghari River are difficult to find. Fish are found only in tributaries. The result found 89 individuals and 15 species. The water quality of Batanghari River included, temperature (28°C), pH (6.9), DO (5.25 mg/L), Turbidity (461 NTU), conductivity (0.028 mS/cm), ORP (323 mV), and TDS (0.049 mg/L). The fish families found are Cyprinidae, Bagridae, Osprhonemidae, Kryptopterinidae, and Polynemidae. As few as the fishes found in the Batanghari River, indicated that Batanghari River is not healthy. During the expedition, found that many fish species had migrated to smaller tributaries where the water was cleaner and less polluted, such as the Batanghari River. Keywords: Milir Berakit First Expedition, Batanghari River, and ecology and Biodiversity
