Abstract
This study aimed to prepare the allotment of space in Sarolangun through the application of geographic information system ( GIS ) based on land capability grading . This research was conducted in Sarolangun Jambi Province . The time study was conducted in May 2013 - June 2013 with a survey method with the approach physiographic ( landscape ) 1:50,000 scale . Sample points were randomly assigned in a stratified , ie the population is divided into strata or Homogeneous Land Unit ( SLH ) the same , and the location of the observation point chosen at random within each of the SLH . SLH slope determined by class , hydrology and altitude . Evaluation results for the spatial plans Sarolangun is 554,864 ha ( 93.60 % ) In accordance with the Land Capability Class and approximately 37, 961 ha ( 6.40 % ) Not In accordance with the Land Capability Class . It can be concluded that the cultivation area of 29,754 ha located on land capability class V to class VII land capability and slopes in the area do not support for conversion to aquaculture , researchers recommend becoming forest and nature reserves.
