Abstract

ABSTRACT Ikrom, Ihsanul. 2023. Analysis of Using Video Conference in Listening and Speaking for General Purposes Class During Pandemic Covid-19. Jambi: Universitas Jambi. Thesis. English Education Study Program. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of Universitas Jambi in Academic Year 2022/2023. The first supervisor is Dr. Masbirorotni, S.Pd, M.Sc. Ed. The second supervisor Robi Soma, S.Pd., M.Pd. This research aimed to find out the factors of students’ motivated and demotivated to speak by using video conference in Listening and Speaking for General Purposes course. This study uses a qualitative method with interviews. The location research was conducted in the English Education Department at Universitas Jambi. There were eight participants in this research from R003 English Education Department academic year of 2021/2022. The data from this research were collected by semi-structured interviews with 10 main questions. The findings of the research is several factors make students motivated to speak in Listening and Speaking for General Purposes class through video conference, namely teacher’s teaching method in learning speaking skills, appropriate schedule, and students’ surrounded atmosphere. Several factors make students demotivated students to speak in Listening and Speaking for General Purposes class through video conference are the video conference technical problem, schedule conflict, and the problem of lecturers’ teaching method. The result is students motivation tends to be demotivated in learning speaking skills through video conference during the pandemic of Covid-19.
