Abstract
This research used a descriptive qualitative approach to analyze the utterances of discourse markers found in an oral presentation entitled "The Sound of Democracy” delivered by Julian Treasure. Meanwhile, for collecting the data, the researcher used a documentation technique. In the findings, the discourse markers classified into four categories: additive markers, adversative markers, causal markers, and temporal markers based on the theory of Halliday and Hasan (1976). The results stated that the frequent discourse markers found in this research were additive markers. In conclusion, Julian delivered the presentation straightforwardly because the audiences are the general community and mentioned discourse markers repeatedly, especially in the additive markers.
