Abstract

Floods and soil degradation are two issues that have become a problem in many cities in Indonesia. Jambi City is one of the areas with the most densely populated population in Jambi Province, this has caused an increase in residential areas to be very rapid. Some residential areas are even made in areas with low elevations so that they are prone to flooding. One effort that can be used to return water to the subsurface is biopori infiltration holes. Biopori infiltration holes were made in three different areas in the Bougenville Housing Complex, Jambi City. The results of the study indicated that the creation of Biopori Infiltration Holes was able to increase the infiltration rate and infiltration capacity. The use of different bio pore infiltration whole diameters, namely 10 cm and 20 cm, did not show differences in infiltration rate and infiltration capacity. The addition of organic waste to different bio pore infiltration holes, namely household organic waste and natural organic waste, did not show any difference in infiltration rate and infiltration capacity
